Oxford Study Finds AI Chatbots Unreliable for Public Medical Advice - Randomized Oxford study of 1,298 UK adults found that GPT-4o, Llama 3 and Command R+ score well on medical benchmarks but, when used by laypeople, did not improve—and often worsened—patients’ ability to identify conditions or the right level of care compared with ordinary internet research; interactive use amplified errors due to incomplete user prompts, misleading revisions, geographic or inconsistent advice, and hallucinations, so authors warn LLMs aren’t ready to give direct medical advice and should be limited to supportive tasks (transcription, summaries) until systematic human-centered testing is done.

Coinbase Launches Agentic Wallets on Base to Power Autonomous AI Payments - Coinbase launched Agentic Wallets — a purpose-built wallet on Base that lets AI agents autonomously transact while integrating with Coinbase custody and compliance rather than acting as an SDK. Private keys are isolated in TEEs and accessed via local session keys and email OTPs, with spending caps, per-transaction limits, enclave isolation and KYT screening to reduce agent-related risks (keys are exportable but not exposed to agent logic). Built on the x402 machine-to-machine payments protocol (50M+ transactions), the wallets support USDC, token swaps and gasless trading and are aimed at CLI-savvy developers via a utility (npx awal). Coinbase pitches the product for autonomous DeFi, API payments, creator-economy flows and multi-chain expansion while acknowledging no sandbox is risk-free.
